June 22, 2002: An un-summerlike cool and foggy day didn't stop the San Francisco Atheists from celebrating the Summer Solstice at the annual picnic in Golden Gate Park. About 75 people participated in the fun, which included "Chef" Heldberg's tasty grilled steaks and veggie burgers, "Kissing Hank's Ass," a play by the the Atheists of Silicon Valley, the traditional "Bible Toss," and Evolutionary Biologist Dave Seaborg's speech on Science and Religion followed by a showing of his exotic animals. Also, the winner was selected from the Haight Street Fair's "Create Your Own Religion" contest. Interestingly, a group of recovering ex-Jehovah's Witnesses ("X-JW") reserved the spot next to ours, and ended up joining in on our fun!
